Pat Donnelly Escapes from Alcatraz - Again

Certain races have an appeal because the mere act of entering the race and getting to the finish line is an accomplishment unto itself. From the Leadville 100 to the Dirty Kanza to the feces infested pre-duathlon Heritage Park Triathlon to the short lived Kansas Ultramax at Hillsdale Lake, the grittiest triathletes are not affraid to take on the most awe inspiring challenges that our sport has to offer.  The shark infested Escape from Alcatraz fits that mold.  Raging Bull, Pat Donnelly, no stranger to Alcatraz, turned in a solid performance at this year's event.  He finished 13th in his age group with a time of 3:17:23 that included a strong swim of 44:06 for 1.5 miles in the punishing currents of the San Francisco Bay.
