Big Weekend for the Bulls Across the USA
Starting on the East Coast, Jason Fitzhugh and Mike Malfer turned in a strong performance at Ironman 70.3 Florida. Jason took 5th AG at Florida with a time of 4:35:14. Notwithstanding the fact that a competitor appears to have left a little surprise for Mike in his transition area, Malfer took 9th AG with a 4:36:29. Good thing Fitzhugh had his bike on the uphill.
Back in Kansas City, Mark Montalto and Jimmy Montalto look to have been pacing again, turning in times of 1:34:52 and 1:34:57 respectively for 108th and 109th place overall at the Rock the Parkway Half Marathon.
Down South at Ironman 70.3 New Orleans, it was a crazy windy day with the temperature about the same as it was in KC - 80 and humid. John Riley took 6th in his age group with a time of 4:56 at NOLA, making his achilles injury a distant memory. Tony Zink meanwhile took 38th in his age group with a 5:36.
Way out West, Jim Myers did the Lifetime Fitness Leadman Tri in the more arid climate of Tempe, Arizona. Notwithstanding a flat on the bike course and a curve ball or two thrown by the desert run, he took 8th place AG.
The Bulls wish to send our thoughts and prayers to our friends at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, Kansas where many of us train. We extend our condolences to the families and friends of the victims of last Sunday's tragic shooting.
