Jason Phillips Adds Another Ironman Finish at the Inaugural Ironman Tulsa
Jason Phillips competed in the first Ironman Tulsa race on Sunday May, 23. Left to train on his own by an unnamed fellow Bull who was a DNS, Phillips ground out a tough race in a challenging field. The race was also the North American Championship packed with pro’s including race winner Patrick Lange.
Of course, we all new that the swim would be a piece of cake for the formerly young competitor. Jason gave us all a taste of his swimming prowess with an impromptu swim across Lake Windsor at a Bulls mountain biking trip in Northwest Arkansas this fall. Even without pre swim hops laden fuel, Jason had a strong start finishing 19th in his 40-44 age group in the swim. He was 58th on a somewhat hilly bike course. And then he ran. Jason finished strong and had a fulfilling race adding to his long list of Ironman events including full 140.6 at Florida and Boulder and a slew of other races.
